FreeFall

FreeFall is a sculptural investigation of transformation — a meeting between glass and metal, between the fragile and the raw. The work is created by melting 4mm window glass over a metal profile in a kiln, where heat slowly shapes the material and gives rise to new forms.

The project stems from a curiosity about what happens beneath the surface — those small shifts and subtle movements that occur when materials interact. During the firing process, the metal provides support for the softening glass. Afterwards, it becomes part of the final piece. The same metal that once carried the glass now becomes a visible element of the overall composition.

FreeFall is about taking time to see — to follow a process where the pace is slow, but the transformation is powerful. It explores balance and tension, allowing the nature of the materials to reveal themselves. The work connects the precise with the organic, the hard with the porous—and invites the viewer to reflect on how change happens when given space and time.
